April Ross Lim Perez is a fashion model and beauty queen from the Philippines. She competed in the second edition of the national Miss Philippines beauty pageant and was crowned Miss Philippines 2002.[1][2][3]

Personal background

Perez was raised and born in Zamboanga City, Philippines. She is a Chavacana. She took her Bachelor of Science degree from the Ateneo de Zamboanga University. She stands at 5 feet and eight inches, weighs in at 105 lbs., and measures 34-25-36 at the time of Miss Earth pageant in 2002.[4]

She appeared in television commercials like San Miguel Beer, Rejoice, Smartphone, Ayala Mall, Lucky Me, Ricky Reyes, and Avon Products. She also became one of FHM’s cover model. She is currently residing in San Francisco, California.

Miss Philippines 2002

Pageant competition

Perez, who represented the Western Mindanao Region, competed in the national Miss Philippines 2002 beauty pageant, which was co-produced by Carousel Productions and ABS–CBN Broadcasting Corporation and telecast on Channel 2 on May 12, 2002.[4]

She garnered a number of special prizes: Miss Close-Up, Miss AVON, and Miss Texter Choice. She was also voted "Best in Swimsuit."[4]

She spoke at the pageant about her concern regarding the environment, "I can help save the environment by campaigning for a cleanliness drive, promoting a rally behind the preservation, and uniting people to fight pollution." It was one of the closest "battle of beauty, intelligence, and environmental awareness" contests ever for the Miss Philippines title. The 11 judges had awarded the top two of the five finalists with the same number of points and a second votation for the top two candidates from the 11 judges had to be computed. 6 yeas for Candidate # 22, Perez vis a vis Candidate # 23, Justine Gabionza with 5 yeas.[4]

At the conclusion of the event, she won and was crowned Miss Philippines 2002. She bested 23 other regional winners to become The Philippines' representative to the international Miss Earth 2002 beauty pageant.[4]

Environmental work

On September 21, 2002, Perez and Miss Earth 2001 Catharina Svensson of Denmark led the Miss Earth 2002 delegates in the "International Coastal Clean Up", an annual event to remove garbage from waters, shores, underwater and waterways for an effort to increase public awareness of the marine debris and its adverse impact to the people and the environment.[5]

On February 12, 2003, Perez was the guest speaker of the launching of the Philippine Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Baungon central nursery, 5,000-square meter nursery can accommodate 40,000 seedlings of saplungan, durian, and rambutan, among others at Liburon, Baungon, Bukidnon.[6]

Miss Earth 2002

Perez competed and finished as a semi-finalist in the 2002 Miss Earth beauty pageant where Džejla Glavović won the crown from Bosnia and Herzegovina who got dethroned and stripped out from her crown.

She also participated and won the World Coffee Queen 2005 and she bagged the Miss Peace special award.
